What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone. Instead of a plastic card you scan a QR code, and a second line appears in your settings — one that carries data abroad while your own number stays on your normal SIM.

How it works

1. Pay

Card payment, no account needed. Your QR code appears on screen and lands in your inbox.

2. Scan at home

Open the camera or your phone settings and scan. Do this on wifi before you travel.

3. Land and switch on

Turn the line on when you arrive. Maps, messages and ride apps work straight away.

Why travellers stopped buying SIM cards

Nothing to collect

Your QR code arrives by email the moment you pay. No airport counter, no queue, no tiny plastic tray.

Keep your own number

Your normal SIM stays in the phone. Calls and messages still reach you while the eSIM carries the data.

Set it up before you fly

Install at home on wifi and switch it on when you land. Arriving is not the moment to debug a connection.

Pay once, no surprises

Prepaid and fixed. No contract, and no roaming bill waiting for you when you get home.

Will it work on my phone?

Most phones sold since 2018 support eSIM — but not all of them. Models bought in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao often have it removed, and carrier-locked phones will refuse an eSIM from anyone else. Check yours before you pay.
