eSIM questions, answered
Straight answers about travel eSIMs: device compatibility, installation, when validity starts, hotspot sharing, keeping your own number, and refunds.
Will an eSIM work on my phone?
Dial *#06# on your phone. If a line labelled EID appears, your phone supports eSIM. Your phone must also be unlocked, meaning not tied to a single carrier. Phones bought on an overseas carrier contract are often locked and will refuse an eSIM from another provider.
Do I lose my own phone number?
No. A travel eSIM is a second line that carries data only. Your normal SIM stays in the phone and keeps your number for calls and SMS. To avoid roaming charges you simply turn off mobile data for your home SIM and leave it on for the eSIM.
When should I install it?
Before you fly, while you still have Wi-Fi. Installing needs an internet connection, and the airport on arrival is the worst place to discover a problem. Install at home, then switch it on when you land.
Can I install the same eSIM twice?
No. An eSIM profile can be downloaded to a device once. If you delete it, factory reset the phone, or try to move it to a new phone, it cannot be restored and it is not refundable. This is a limitation of the eSIM standard, not a policy choice.
When does the validity period start?
For most plans, validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in the destination — not when you buy it. Every plan page states which rule applies to that specific plan, because a few plans start counting at purchase.
Can I share the connection as a hotspot?
It depends on the plan. Some wholesale plans block tethering. Every plan page states clearly whether hotspot sharing is supported, so check that line before buying if you plan to share with a laptop or a travel companion.
What happens when I run out of data?
The connection stops carrying data. We do not sell top-ups for an eSIM you already have, so the next step is simply to buy another plan. Unused data does not carry over after the validity period ends.
How fast will it be?
You connect to the same networks local customers use, so speed depends on where you are, your device, and how busy the network is. We do not advertise a guaranteed speed, because nobody reselling mobile data can honestly guarantee one.
How quickly do I get the eSIM?
Normally within seconds of payment. You get a page with a QR code and a one-tap install button, and the same details by email. Delivery runs automatically around the clock.
What if it does not work when I arrive?
Email us with the ICCID from your delivery page. If the eSIM cannot connect to any supported network and we cannot fix it, we refund you.
